To align with the government's open data policy and adapt to the trend of diverse information platforms and devices, the Executive Yuan has promoted ODF-CNS15251 as the standard format for government documents since January 1, 2015, to facilitate public access and inter-agency data exchange.

Open Document Format (ODF) is an XML-based file format specification for office applications like spreadsheets, presentations, and word processors. It ensures long-term accessibility and prevents vendor lock-in.

Open format, cross-platform, cross-application compatible, suitable for international exchange, ideal for long-term preservation, and helps avoid version conflicts.
